In honor of its 20 year anniversary, Soma Records held a remix contest for “Feeling Blue” by fellow Glasgow natives Silicone Soul. Keep in mind, “Feeling Blue” was originally released eight years ago, so it has a nice retro feel to it. The ideal remix would be one that retains yet reinvents its classic components. Fortunately, Soma has just revealed the winner of the contest, and it’s a definite house smash. The first place tune comes from Kultrun, aka Tony Stevens of Melbourne, Australia. We’ll allow Silicone Soul to fill you in themselves:
"This version stood out for us immediately, as it’s the kind of track we love to play in our Dj sets and one that you enjoy more with each listen. Although there’s minimal use of the original parts, the sound and groove is deep and moody. It’s probably the best way to approach an old track, as it’s important to develop your own sound when remixing. The use of our favourite line from the vocal also added to our enjoyment. Congratulations to Melbourne’s Tony Stevens!"
Enjoy the track below. Keep up with Kultrun for more.
